Sub-band Coding of Audio Using Recursively Indexed Quantization
نویسندگان
چکیده
A low-complexity audio data compression technique using sub-band coding (SBC) and a recursively indexed quantizer (RIQ) is proposed in this paper. The characteristics of the proposed system are investigated and several relevant implementation issues are described. The objective performance of the proposed system is compared to conventional coding techniques. A real time implementation of the proposed system running on a DSP microprocessor is also discussed. The results indicate that the RIQ-SBC system exhibits objective signal-to-quantization noise ratio 2 to 5ּdB higher than other coders of similar computational complexity when processing a variety of wideband audio signals.

Frequency Domain Linear Prediction for QMF Sub-bands and Applications to Audio Coding
This paper proposes an analysis technique for wide-band audio applications based on the predictability of the temporal evolution of Quadrature Mirror Filter (QMF) sub-band signals. The input audio signal is first decomposed into 64 sub-band signals using QMF decomposition. The temporal envelopes in critically sampled QMF sub-bands are approximated using frequency domain linear prediction applie...
متن کاملSurvey of Digital Filters for Speech Signals Using Multi-Rate Signal Processing
Digital filters provide an important role in the world of communication. This paper proposes a literature review related to design the digital filters for audio application using multi rate signal processing. One of the important applications in multi rate signal processing is sub band coding. Humming sounds are present in the speech signal which cannot be removed easily and without filtering c...
متن کاملThe D5 lattice quantization for 64 kbit/s low-delay subband audio coder with a 15 kHz bandwidth
A new method for coding generic audio signals at 64 kbit/s in the 20-15000 Hz bandwidth with a low delay is presented. It combines subband coding, Low Delay CELP algorithm and cascaded lterbanks. Our earlier works [1] show that, when using an equal bit rate on each subband, the resulting audio quality was not appropriate. We propose a new technique based on lattice quantization to avoid the sea...

متن کاملAudio Coding Based on Long Temporal Segments: Experiments With Quantization of Excitation Signal
In this paper, we describe additional experiments based on a novel audio coding technique that uses an autoregressive model to approximate an audio signal's Hilbert envelope. This technique is performed over long segments (1000 ms) in critical-band-sized sub-bands. We have performed a series of experiments to find more efficient methods of quantizing the frequency components of the Hilbert carr...
